Last year, Ahlstrom-Munksjö, one of the world’s leading players in sustainable and innovative fiber solutions, and OSMS began a partnership that would lead to unpredictable and extraordinary savings. From January 1, 2019 – October 20, 2019, Ahlstrom-Munksjö realized $229,000 in savings by providing participation bonuses to its employees for choosing to receive orthopedic and rheumatology care at OSMS.

Prior to partnering with OSMS, Ahlstrom-Munksjö was fighting a battle many companies face: the rising cost of health care. With a company of over 1,000 working in Kaukauna and De Pere, Wisconsin, Ahlstrom-Munksjö was looking for a solution to decrease its health care utilization dollars.

The OSMS Employer Partnership Program allows companies like Ahlstrom-Munksjö to receive the highest quality care from experienced physicians while taking advantage of cost savings. If an employer chooses to use participation bonuses to encourage their employees to use OSMS services, there are four ways to save:

  1. Visiting the Bellin Orthopedic Surgery Center (BOSC) located inside the OSMS clinic in Green Bay
  2. Using an onsite procedure room
  3. Using the OSMS outpatient infusion centers, located at the OSMS clinic in Green Bay and Appleton
  4. Promoting the use of the Acute Injury Clinic (AIC), which can result in up to 94% in savings versus visiting an emergency room

According to Head of Compensation and Benefits at Alstrom-Munksjö Rick Counihan, controlling costs and providing quality health care for employees is necessary for a business to be profitable.

Now that Ahlstrom-Munksjö has seen such substantial savings by partnering with OSMS, they plan to continue the participation bonuses and even expand the program. This will, in turn, save them more health care utilization dollars.
