At OSMS, you have multiple payment options available to you to help cover your health care treatment costs. Many patients choose to pay for their medical services through insurance, however, some may choose to self-pay, which means they pay for their medical services up front, on their own, instead of using insurance.

Self-pay offers many benefits for patients including:

1. Cost Predictability: OSMS has taken the guesswork out for patients that choose to pay for health care themselves by telling you how much something will cost. Self-pay can be more cost effective due to our ability to bundle services and not having to pay premiums or meet deductibles.
2. Flexibility in Choosing a Provider: Patients who pay through insurance have to find healthcare organizations and providers within their network. Therefore, because these claims do not process through insurance, patients who self-pay can choose not only where they go for their care but determine what provider they want to receive that care from.
3. No referral or approval from insurance needed: Once again, because self-pay does not go through insurance, self-paying patients do not need a referral to be seen by any specialists, nor do they have to wait for pre-authorization through their insurance companies for a test, procedure, or surgery – saving them time. Please note that most insurance plans do not require a referral to see an OSMS physician.

As a reminder, we accept most insurance plans and typically a referral is not required for orthopedic, sports medicine, and pain management care.
