Board-certified orthopedic foot and ankle specialist Dr. Karl Henrikson earned his medical degree at the University of Massachusetts and went on to complete his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. There he enjoyed being team physician for a high school football team. He served as administrative chief and spent a superchief year as an attending. He completed his fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
While Dr. Henrikson can treat most orthopedic conditions, his expertise lies in foot and ankle treatment. Common foot and ankle conditions that Dr. Henrikson sees and treats includes plantar fasciitis, foot and ankle fractures, Achilles tendonitis, metatarsalgia, osteochondral lesions, hammer toe, foot and ankle arthritis, and bunions to name a few. He works with his patients to determine the best possible course of treatment and says he finds motivation in seeing patients happy and getting back to their lives.
In his free time, Dr. Henrikson enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors and participating in activities such as hiking, skiing and fishing.

First appointment with Dr. Henrikson. Found Dr. Henrikson to be fully prepared for an initial consultation with regard to a ruptured achilles tendon. Steps had been taken in advance to review previous X-Rays and MRIs with regard to the consultation. Additional X-Rays were taken for the purpose of assessing and verifying the current situation. An initial course of treatment has been prescribed which is to pursue non-surgical solutions first. It is quite clear that Dr. Henrikson is focused on treating and healing his patients, one patient at a time. Great initial consultation. I have been to many doctors in my 71 years. I have had quite a few different surgeons. Out of all of those, I have to say that Dr. Henrickson is the best I have had operate on my foot. He is easy to talk to about my issues. The Doctor then discusses my x-rays and explains clearly what he is going to do. I like that we can discuss my care completely! I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes. I understand that some patients, including myself, need to take more of the doctors time. So I understand waiting a little extra time. Although the doctor was running about 45 minutes, all the staff handled it beautifully and the staff still took the time with my handicapped sister to allow her to process and vocalize her answers. He did a great job fixing my foot and explaining the recovery process. One Year Follow-up: Dr. Henrikson told me that the recovery would take about one year. At the six month mark, I was able to attend my first Brewers game, walking from the parking lot to our seats and back keeping up with the rest of our party. At the one year mark, I travelled to Hawaii, easily navigating between terminals in Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles. I walked easily throughout the vacation, including on beaches and rocky paths. I had a butcher of a doctor in Marquette Michigan initials Z. L., do an ankle replacement in the fall of 2016, he put the wrong size ankle joint. It's too large. So in 2018 I had a doctor do a partial clean out of the ankle but he didn't do very good. So in the fall of 2023 I had Dr Hendrickson do a total ankle clean out. When I got home I immediately knew my ankle was improved! And here we are at 3 and 1/2 months later and I am climbing hills in our area again! I'm able to go down to the beach and walk along the beach! I'm actually able to walk around with minimal pain! Thank you Dr henriksen I will always love you for what you did to help me to walk again! I just had my doctors appointment and I am out of the boot and can wear normal shoes. Dr Henrikson is a miracle worker. Another Dr told me ankle and foot surgery would be 3 months no weight and wouldn’t guarantee success. I am happy to report 3 months after my surgery I am out of boot, back in my tennies. Dr. Henrikson is outstanding! He did surgery on my left foot, which was severely damaged by rheumatoid arthritis, and it hasn't looked this straight in over a decade. Once I totally recover from this procedure, I'll be going back to him for surgery on my right foot so that I can buy comfortable shoes and go for walks again. Dr Henrickson is amazing. Had a consult about a damaged ankle and foot drop from accident years ago. Another Dr said surgery would be too extensive & I’d have to be in bed 3 months. Dr Henrickson reviewed X-rays with me and explained the procedure he could perform. I was so elated he is able to perform surgery within a month. Recovery will be no weight for 2 weeks then a boot for 6 weeks. No more brace. I am ready to have surgery and am confident I am in the right hands. 11/03/24 Just returned from 2 week checkup. Dr. Henrikson explained to me the necessity for Cortisone injections to my knee, due to the Tibia needing a plate, screws and bone graft repair in November 2022. He also informed me when the injections are no longer advantageous, I will need to have a knee replacement. As I do not want another surgery so soon, he assured me that the injections are my option until further corrections are necessary. Dr. Henrikson took one look at my foot and knew right away what needed to be done, to make the pain go away. He performed three different surgeries on my one foot, I had them completed at the same time. One was for a bunion, One for the hammer toe next to the big toe, And one for a bone spur on top of my foot and along with fusing some bones together! A lot completed! I injured my ankle /shin area about a week ago and it progressively got worse until walking hurt but tipping my foot up or down was excruciating and the pain finally forced me to look for medical intervention. OSMS was recommended to me when I stopped after work at 7 am to attempt to see a chiropractor. I never heard of them but drove to the office and was overwhelmed by the kind reception by the staff at the desk and the wait time was about a half hour. I was coming off a 12 hour night shift and an hour drive from work so was happy I did not have a long wait as I'd have had at an urgent care. And the staff were all polite and professional from the nurses to the radiologist. And the dr. was very professional, kind and after listening to me and going over my x-rays knew exactly what I had and a plan to relieve my pain and get me back to normal. My visit was a final follow-up to a surgery on my Right Ankle - I had a C-Weber fracture. I had never met Dr. Henrikson prior to my Accidental fall last April 9th. Great experience. All the staff is very patient and knowledgeable and was able to offer another option to reduce my arthritis foot pain until I can have surgery. Dr. Henrickson was quick to fit me in when I was referred by my Rheumatologist. He was able to identify the issue with my foot and suspected that it was a more significant issue than not. He recommended that I have additional imaging to confirm his suspicions and was correct. The imaging showed some significant issues both in tissue and with bone. He didn't feel that the standard treatment of an injection would do the trick to eliminate the issue and suggested I move straight to surgery. Due to my work, I was reluctant and wanted to attempt the injection in hopes it would work. Unfortunately, Dr. Henrickson was correct, and surgery was needed to return my mobility. The surgery has been a wonderful success so far and I am already more mobile than prior and only two weeks post op.rater8 Verified Patient

Once again was welcome by the nicest lady name Judy so helpful with everything always smiling. Dr. Henrikson nurse MacKenzie took me in alway a pleasure to talk too and such a wonderful person. Had X rays done the young ladies in there were also very nice. Dr.Henrikson came in and we talked on my process he answered all my questions. Dr.Henrikson did a great job on my ankle replacement he's always wants to make sure I'm feeling good and that I know what to expect with my rehab.
