Scout’s I’m Back Story
Scout was playing in a basketball game, running down the court, when she felt a stabbing pain in her hip suddenly. The pain caused her to fall to the ground, where she was helped off the court by her coaches.
After dealing with the pain for a few years, one day, after a basketball game, Scout went up to her parents to tell them something was wrong with her hip, and she was finally ready to figure out what.
Scout visited the local orthopedic group, where she had an MRI taken. The MRI results confirmed that Scout had a torn labrum.
“I remember getting in the car and just talking to my dad,” explained Scout. “I was like, ‘what does this mean, am I done? I’m scared; I don’t know what’s going to happen next’”.
Scout’s mom was determined to get her daughter the best care possible, so she did the research that led her to OSMS.
“I got home maybe a week or two later and she was like, ‘I found the surgeon for you’,” Scout explained. “My mom said we’re going to go in, we’re going to talk to him about this and we’re going to make it right”.
Although Scout was disappointed she needed surgery, Dr. Enright explained the process and immediately eased her mind. Scout was confident that she would get back to all the things she loved doing.
Scout had a hip arthroscopy in her left hip. Part of her femur bone was shaved down, and her labrum was anchored back together.
“OSMS was able to get me back on my feet again after having my ankle fractured, my hip labrum torn, and they were able to get me back to the competing level I was at even before the injury happened,” Scout expressed. “And they got me not only feeling the best I ever had with my hips since my fresh in the year, but the strongest I’ve been in a long time”.
Scout’s confidence was brought back. “There was something wrong, but now it’s fixed and I’m better off for it. Better off than when I did go in. They just made everything that I’ve achieved my senior year and these next four years at college possible”.
Thanks to OSMS, Scout is back and competing in rugby collegiately.
