Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Specialists (OSMS), a doctor-owned orthopedic, sports medicine, rheumatology, and pain management practice, has recently hired its own team of Anesthesiologists and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to improve patient experience, control costs, and incorporate better team cohesion.

“Having our own anesthesia team allows for better patient experiences through continuity of care,” explains Amanda Sosnosky, Orthopedic Surgery Center Administrator at OSMS. “This move enables OSMS to be more transparent about costs and explore new opportunities with bundles and unique payer relationships that we were unable to before, ultimately benefiting patients by offering a comprehensive, high quality care experience.”

The goal of an in-house anesthesia team is to enhance cost transparency by including professional, facility, and anesthesia fees on the OSMS website in the future. Additionally, an in-house team is more integrated into the operations of the OSMS family and culture, fostering a better work environment and team unity.

OSMS Anesthesia will receive continual education as part of their benefits package to maintain their skills, ensuring they are prepared for critical situations despite the lower frequency of such cases in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) settings.
