Patient selection criteria for Orthopedic Surgery Center of Green Bay and Orthopedic Surgery Center of the Fox Valley:
Prior to having surgery at one of our surgery centers, it is important to make sure that the patient is an appropriate surgical candidate for an ambulatory surgery setting. Patients are screened based on their health history and current demographics to ensure that optimal surgical outcomes are achieved.
Our OSMS PREP Team and Anesthesiologists work closing with each patient to determine the most appropriate surgical location.
Our Surgery Center Selection Criteria:
- Patient Age: Minimum of three years
- Body Mass Index (BMI):
- Less than or equal to 45 BMI for outpatient procedures and Joint Replacement procedures
- Local cases must be less than or equal to 400 pounds BMI = Weight (kgs) / Height (m2)
- Controlled Morbidities / Comorbidities: Morbidity refers to a disease condition such as a patient diagnosed with heart disease or diabetes. Comorbidity refers to when more than one disease condition is occurring such as a patient diagnosed with heart disease and diabetes. Morbidities and comorbidities must be managed and controlled with the patient’s primary care provider.

Patients with significant health histories as identified by the OSMS PREP Team will require an anesthesiologist review to determine if the patient is medically appropriate to have surgery at Orthopedic Surgery Center of Green Bay and Orthopedic Surgery Center of the Fox Valley.
All patients who are under the age of three, have a personal history of malignant hyperthermia, or have a communicable disease will not be eligible to have surgery at our surgery centers.
If it is determined that you are not a surgical candidate at one of our ambulatory surgery center locations, your surgery will be scheduled with your OSMS Surgeon at one of the community hospital locations.
